Sexting and Sextortion

Sexting is the transmission of sexually explicit materials via phone. Many different statutes can be used to prosecute someone for a sexting offense.

Sexting and Sextortion: How do these issues impact our teens?

To learn more about this topic we will hear from

Geri Williams, Deputy District Attorney, Juvenile Sexual Assault Prosecutor for Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Geraldine (“Geri”) Wong-Williams is the Juvenile Sexual Assault Deputy District Attorney for Orange County. Prior to becoming a Deputy District Attorney at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA), Geri was a Deputy Public Defender at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office (OCPD) for over a decade.

On behalf of OCDA and California District Attorneys Association (CDAA), Geri testified before the California Assembly Public Safety Committee, as the recognized subject matter expert on juvenile investigative interviews.

Geri was elected to the Board of Directors of the Orange County Asian American Bar Association (OCAABA) in 2020 and has served as co-chair for OCAABA Pipeline and OCAABA COVID-19 Response Committees.

Geri is also the newly elected Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Criminal Law Section Secretary/Treasurer. She is also a member of the OCBA Diversity/Inclusion Committee and OCBA Mentorship Committee.

One of Geri's goals is to help law students get started on their career paths. As such, she spoke at the UCI Panel for Prosecutors of Color. Through OCBA and APAWLA, Geri is a mentor to several law students and junior attorneys with less than 5 years-experience who are interested in a career in government and non-profit law.

In addition to being the NAPABA Alternate Regional Governor for Southern California, Geri is also member of National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Association (NAPIPA), Southern California Chinese Lawyer’s Association (SCCLA), National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA), and District Attorney Women Association Network (DAWN).
